On Thursday, July 17, 2008 at around 7:45pm, the Baltimore Art and Music Project (check them out at www.baltimoreamp.com) officially welcomed the brand new Dundalk Gateway Sign into the lives of every Dundalkian.
It was a bit humid that night, but no one seemed to care. Mayor Sheila Dixon, County Executive Jim Smith, Councilman John Olszewski Sr., and Delegate John Olszewski Jr. were all there, and so were around 150-200 citizens (could be a little more). It was wonderful to see so many local citizens come out to support the project and to see it finally up on the CSX Bridge(actually the sculpture went up on May 17th, but this was the first opportunity to get everyone together to celebrate).
The entire night was about celebrating how the community came together to complete this project. It was a great night, with an after party at The Hard Yacht Cafe (www.anchorbayeastmarina.com) that was full of music, youth, and an all-around celebratory feeling.
There were so many contributors to this project that it would be unfair to name just one, so please check out www.baltimoreamp.com to get more information. I am sure the Dundalk Eagle will do a write up about it next week as well (www.dundalkeagle.com)
I hope you enjoyed the first post, check back tomorrow for more! I will update at least once a day!
Go to the Farmers Market tomorrow!
